Rainer in SPA (Belgium)
The third race of this season took place, in June, in the Ardennes in Belgium. 13 Crosslé 9s racecars came over from Ireland and England to take part in the famous “Summer Classic” in Spa Francorchamps. With another 5 Swiss Crosslés making a total of 18 cars in the race, it was the largest field of Crosslés that have ever come together.
Rainer’s engine damage from Franciacorta in Italy had been repaired in the meantime and the car found itself on the road to Belgium. From this point onward, however, there is not much more to report because while the car was ready for takeoff on the race track, Rainer was not... He was suffering from a severe bout of summer flu and could not take part.
This is not a particularly good season for the moment. Three other Swiss drivers, including championship leader Andy Feigenwinter, were forced to retire from this race due to technical problems with their cars. Only Kaspar Huggenberger managed to defend Swiss honor by taking the third place behind two Irish drivers.
There is nothing more that Rainer can do now than prepare himself for the next race, which takes place at the end of August in Austria at the Red Bull Ring.
We will of course keep you informed on that race and we wish more success for Rainer in the rest of this season!
